Alex Clarke, a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2020, winner of the Rising Star category in the 2019 British Jazz Awards and three-time Parliamentary Jazz Awards nominee, is recognised as one of the most in-demand saxophonists on the British Jazz scene.
Known for her deep knowledge of bebop and an intelligent ear for harmony, her fiery, melodic playing draws inspiration from legends like Phil Woods and Cannonball Adderley. Alex has performed with notable names such as Alan Barnes and Art Themen and regularly works with top ensembles including The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra. She released her latest album “Only A Year” in 2022.
Alex will be joined on stage by Aidan Thorne on bass and Matthew Holmes on drums.
Aidan Thorne is a versatile double bass player based in Powys who explores the intersections of traditional music, jazz & classical Indian fusion with a highly developed sensitivity. His bowing earthly drones & warm, considered finger work has brought a weighted musical expanse across many projects.
Matthew Holmes is a notable and in-demand drummer amongst the UK jazz scene, performing extensively both nationally and internationally. Matthew was the winner of the Tony Levin Drum Prize (2019).
