7:30 pm: 15/02/2019 - Ray Cooper + Of The Clay and Claire Waller
15th February 2019 –
Ray Cooper joins us for an intimate evening of folk and acoustic music, with support from Of The Clay and Claire Waller.
**Ticket price for the evening includes some food and a glass of bubbly**
Ray Cooper spent many years as a member of successful folk/rock group Oysterband before opting for life as a solo artist in 2013 and has never looked back.
In his own words... "I am an acoustic singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, the guy that sings with a cello, as well as mandolin, guitar and piano.
I am half Scottish and half English, I have no home town, I think of myself as a north European now. A romantic. I look back on history with the hope to learn something about the present, to catch the repeating patterns. I get my ideas from memories, dreams, history books, biographies, online news outlets, conversations I remember or imagine, I have no method. Trad tunes weave their way in and out because they are just so strong and are as much a part of my cultural roots as rock ‘n roll."
These days Ray resides in Sweden, so it is a real treat to have him coming to visit, and an opportunity not to be missed.
Of The Clay are a folk-duo based on the Norfolk Coast, inspired by local histories and landscapes, and the timelessness of traditional songs. They have have supported kindred acts such as Sid Goldsmith and Jimmy Aldridge, and FRoots magazine have dubbed them a "proper-job folk-duo" with "deft vocal, instrumental and arrangement skills".
