Toby Hay is a guitarist and composer from near Rhayader in mid Wales. Inspired by history, people and landscape, Toby writes beautifully evocative guitar instrumentals that effortlessly transport the listener to the mountains and rivers of his homeland. Twice nominated for the Welsh Music Prize, Toby has toured the UK and Ireland extensively over the last few years and has built a reputation as a captivating live performer. His latest record, ‘New Music For The 12 String Guitar’ was recorded at Real World Studios on a custom instrument built by Roger Bucknall of Fylde Guitars.
For the first time since the release of ’The Longest Day’ in 2018, Toby will be reunited with two of the most prominent musicians on the Welsh music scene; David Grubb (violin) and Aidan Thorne (double bass). Not to be missed, this is a rare opportunity to see this dynamic trio perform together. Expect folk inspired compositions and improvisations, coloured with elements of jazz and world music.
Rooted in the folk revival of the 1960’s, Holly Blackshaw is the gentle passage between then and now, playing old as time and self-penned songs through lilting vocals and an old guitar.
“With a voice that comes around, at best, once in a generation, Holly Blackshaw is a crucible of sounds of both folk and psychedelia. She manages to produce music that breaks and follows tradition”
