Liz Ikamba is bringing her band from Brighton to the Lost Arc to serve up their distinctive sound, fusing elements of dub-reggae, jazz, soul, folk and soukous, hip-hop and traditional African rhythms.
Liz is a singer and multi-instrumentalist who draws on a mixture of African diasporic influences as well as greats like Nina Simone and Sade. Her songs are a vibrant celebration of life with its trials and tribulations in all their diverse and colourful glory.
With British-Congolese (DRC) heritage and singing in both English and Lingala, she weaves together universal themes of connection and yearning with stories of her life and that of her family. She takes us on a breath-taking voyage back and forth between DR Congo and the UK, delivering a truly unforgettable musical journey. Liz creates a shared feeling of belonging to a borderless musical community.
Liz will sing songs from her debut EP ‘Mama’, described by John Warr of Afrobase on Radio Reverb as ‘an inspired and beautiful fusion of folk influenced soul and Congolese music’.
